Tūpuna Maunga at Alert Level 3, Steps 1-3

Tūpuna Maunga staff are monitoring the Maunga closely, and have determined what changes Alert Level 3 Steps 1-3 afford, in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines.

Step 1

Playgrounds have reopened at:

  • Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill*
  • Maungawhau / Mt Eden
  • Ōtāhuhu / Mt Richmond
  • Te Pane o Mataoho / Te Ara Pueru / Māngere Mountain.

Toilets, where adjacent to the playgrounds, will also be reopened, as will be the main toilets at Maungawhau – all with increased cleaning regimes.

*Vehicle access will resume at Maungakieke to safely accommodate families using the playground.

Step 2

At this step it is likely that we will be able to open gates for vehicle access. This timing is aligned with both protecting the Maunga and supporting the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.

Step 3

No additional changes foreseen.

Across the three steps, if monitoring shows it is appropriate, additional changes may be made as is possible and safe. We thank Aucklanders for helping protect the Maunga, and each other.
